Troicki vs. Murray
The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Andy Murray and Viktor Troicki meet in the first round of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.
Andy Murray should be well rested and in great form for this tournament after not playing since winning the Wimbledon title. Murray continues to play the best tennis of his life and has won 12 straight matches overall. Murray should also be confident considering he did win the gold medal in 2012 after beating Roger Federer in effortless fashion. Murray has lost just one match since the Rome Masters and is hitting the ball with extreme confidence. This is probably the best Murray I’ve seen and he’s truly the only guy who can realistically think he has what it takes to take down Djokovic on the big stage. Murray has won 10 of his last 13 matches on hard court.
USA TODAY Sports
Viktor Troicki is coming off a first round loss in the Canadian Masters and has actually lost six of his last seven matches overall. Troicki still can’t be slept on considering he’s a top-40 player, but he’s somebody who is in brutal form right now and is struggling to hold serve. After all, Troicki has won just one match since losing to Stan Wawrinka in the fourth round of the French Open. it’s been awhile since Troicki has looked sharp, and that’s the main reason why he’s in the bottom of the bracket with a matchup against a guy he’s had zero career success against. Troicki has seven career wins over top-10 players. Troicki has lost five of his last six matches on hard court.
These two have played seven times in the past and Murray has won all seven meetings. The most recent match was in Queen’s of 2015, a match Murray won in straight sets. Troicki has won two sets against Murray his whole career.
Troicki is in a major slump and Murray is playing the best tennis of his career right now. Not to mention the head to head is as one sided as it gets.
Give me Murray in straight sets.
