TV:

Kei Nishikori and John Millman meet in the second round of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.

Kei Nishikori is coming off a first round victory over Albert Ramos-Viñolas that took 18 games to decide. Nishikori continues to show improvement in big tournaments and big matches, and he showed it again in an effortless victory over a decent player. Nishikori is serving well, hitting his winners and the confidence continue to grow. Remember, Nishikori made the quarterfinals in the 2012 olympics, so he does have a shot to compete for a medal and represent Japan well if he can stay in this form the rest ofthe way. Nishikori has won 14 of his last 17 matches on hard court.

Kei Nishikori vs. John Millman 2016 Rio Summer Olympics Pick, Odds, Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

John Millman is coming off a straight set first round win over Ričardas Berankis that took 12 games to decide. Millman came into this tournament in brutal form with losses in six of his last 10 matches, but it doesn’t get much better than winning a match without dropping a single game. In fact, it was the first time a man has shutout his opponent in olympic history. Millman has to have improved confidence given his first match and should be able to play more loose as he hopes to pull off a monster second round upset. This has been somewhat of a breakout season for the 27-year-old Millman, and a win over a top-10 player in his first olympics would be memorable. Millman has won seven of his last 11 matches on hard court.

This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.

Nishikori is playing too well at the moment and should be able to make light work of Millman, who hasn’t had much success against quality ATP players. Nishikori’s athleticism and shotmaking makes him a huge favorite.
