TV: ESPN

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Novak Djokovic meet in the quarterfinals of the 2016 US Open.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is coming off a four set win over Jack Sock that took 39 games to decide. In the victory, Tsonga won 83 percent of his first serve points and 44 percent of his second serve points. Tsonga continues to play his best tennis in grand slam play and has lost just one set in this tournament. As long as Tsonga continues to serve at a high percentage and make shots with confidence, he’s going to be a very tough out regardless of who he plays. Tsonga hopes to make his seventh career grand slam semifinal. This is Tsonga’s third US Open quarterfinal, but he’s never made the semifinals in this tournament. Tsonga has won five of his last seven matches on hard court.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs. Novak Djokovic 2016 US Open Quarterfinal Pick, Odds, Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

Novak Djokovic is coming off a straight sets win over Kyle Edmund that took 25 games to decide. In the victory, Djokovic won 75 percent of his first serve points and 45 percent of his second serve points. Djokovic finally got a full match under his belt for the first time since the first round and he looked sharp for the most part. However, Djokovic has to be more effective with his second serve and can’t finish with more unforced errors than winners. Overall, Djokovic is still the favorite to win this tournament. Djokovic has a chance to make his 10th grand slam semifinal in his last 11 tries. Djokovic has won 15 of his last 16 matches on hard court.

These two have played 21 times in the past and Djokovic has won 15 of those matches. The most recent match was in this year's Indian Wells Masters, a match Djokovic won in straight sets. Tsonga’s last win over Djokovic came in the 2013 Canadian Masters and he’s lost 11 of the last 12 matches.

Tsonga is playing great, confident tennis and has to feel like he has a shot given the successful history. However, Djokovic is well rested, the better player and has a thing for the big stage. Tsonga will make this tough, but Djokovic will win.

I say Djokovic in four sets.
