Jon Jones (Champ)(17-1) VS. Chael Sonnen (Challenger) (27-12):
USA TODAY Sports
Jon Jones out of Jackson MMA. . . Future of the UFC. . . Second coming. . . Heir to the Silva Throne! His only loss left his opponent a bloody mess and unable to stand on his own two feet. Jones has a mind boggling 11” inch reach advantage and is 11 years younger than Team Quest’s challenger Chael Sonnen. Sonnen has been out of the cage for almost a year, but that isn’t much of a factor to a fighter that trains year round, waiting for opportunities just like this one to come. Besides the obvious tape disparities, Sonnen really has to worry about a significant size difference and a top notch grappling game from the champ. The challenger’s real hope lies in taking “Bones” to the mat and utilizing his heavy top game. With Jones possessing a %100 take down defense rate, I’m predicting a short and violent end to Sonnen’s light-heavy weight title run. Jon Jones by strikes in round 3.
ALAN BELCHER (18-7) vs. MICHAEL BISPING (23-5):
Michael “The Count” Bisping is coming off a head kick knock out he suffered from his last fight in January against # 2 ranked Vitor Belfort. Belcher dropped a unanimous decision to # 6 ranked Yushin Okami. Neither of these two top contenders have ever lost 2 UFC fights in a row. Bisping has his superior boxing, stiff jab and proven take down ability on his side. Belcher’s last 5 wins were either by submission or TKO. Overall it will be a close fight that goes the distance with Bisping squeaking out a split decision victory.
