William Hill Review 2019 – Check out our ratings and find out if William Hill is trustworthy

William Hill is one of the longest-running global sports betting companies around. They started way back in 1934, taking bets by phone and by mail. In the 1960s, the company started opening betting shops in England, and in the 1990s, they started opening online sportsbooks.

William Hill got its start in the United States market in Nevada in 2012, and then quickly made its way to New Jersey when the state first started offering online sports betting in the fall of 2018, following the Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act.

Since it has been around so long, the company has the benefit of having a long track record of trust and success.

William Hill Bonuses

Like most other online sportsbooks, William Hill offers a sign-up bonus for new players in New Jersey. With the promotion called WH50, you can get a $50 sign-up bonus when you bet at least $50. To use the promotion, you have to enter the promo code WH50 when you sign up for your new account.

The promotion is quite simple to understand and take advantage of, too. Once you register for a new account at William Hill and place cumulative wagers that total $50, you will receive $50 added to your account within seven days. The current promotion period ends May 31, but you have 60 days to place the cumulative wagers from the day you make your initial deposit.

Earning the extra welcome bonus is as easy as that.

William Hill Ongoing Promotions

William Hill also offers quite a lot of ongoing promotions.

Business Hours Bonus

The Business Hours Bonus is a promotion that runs around daytime baseball games. As part of the promotion, players who place pre-game wagers of $30 or more on two daytime baseball games that start before 3:35 p.m. Eastern Standard Time each Thursday can receive a $10 cash bonus.

Home Town Hero

For the month of May, William Hill is offering a Home Town Hero promotion. To qualify, you need to place a bet of at least $50 on either the run line or total in games where the New York Yankees, New York Mets or Philadelphia Phillies play. The bettors who earn the most wins in May will earn cash prizes. The top three winners for each team will earn $1,000 (for a total of $9,000 awarded). The most wins on the Yankees, Mets and Phillies teams combined will win $2,500.

Series Swap Special

The site is also running a special revolving around the NBA playoffs. Players can win an additional $150 cash bonus if they win each pre-game point spread wager of at least $50 in every game of any pro basketball playoff series. The bonus will be paid after the series ends.

Golden Strikeout Mondays

Through June 19, William Hill is offering the Golden Strikeout Mondays promotion. If you bet $25 or more on baseball money lines through that date, you can get $1 back for every strike out by the losing team if your bet loses. William Hill will double the money back if any player on the losing team strikes out at least four times in the game. There is a $50 cash back limit per Monday per participant.

Diamond Live Club

Each week, William Hill offers an ongoing promotion related to InPlay baseball wagers. These bets allow you to place a wager while the game is already going on, instead of just before the game starts.

For this promotion, you can earn a $10 bonus for the first $100 of InPlay baseball bets you place every week, which William Hill defines as Monday through Sunday. No matter whether you win or lose these bets, you will begin the following week with $10 more in your account.

Odds and Betting at William Hill

The odds at William Hill’s sportsbooks in New Jersey are on the higher side, which is a good thing for American bettors in the market. They offer a plethora of betting options, from traditional single-game wagers on a betting line or total, to parlays, teasers, futures and in-game wagering as well.

At William Hill, you can place wagers on sports such as:

  • Football
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Hockey
  • Combat sports such as boxing and MMA
  • Rugby
  • Auto racing
  • Tennis
  • Soccer
  • Golf

In-game betting, which William Hill calls InPlay wagers, are offered for just about every game in every sport, which is a key differentiator for the site compared to some of its competitors. This is one of the more popular types of bets in today’s market.

William Hill Rewards Program

While William Hill offers a loyalty rewards program for bettors in Nevada, they don’t currently offer one for their New Jersey retail locations or online sportsbook.

In Nevada, William Hill offers a loyalty rewards program that awards points every time you place a wager on a race or sports. A straight bet earns one point. A parlay or teaser bet earns two points. A parlay card bet earns five points. Each 1,000 points earned can be cashed in for $1 in free bets.

This program is not available in New Jersey right now, as we mentioned, but since it is already in place in Nevada, it’s possible the program could be expanded to New Jersey and other states in the near future.

William Hill Live Betting

Live betting is one of the most popular type of wagers in sports betting today. William Hill calls its live betting wagers InPlay. They allow you to place a wager on a game that has already started. The odds of the game change as different results happen in the game, and your wager will be based on the odds at the time of your bet and not on the odds at the start of the game.

While William Hill doesn’t offer InPlay wagers for every game that is on its board, it does offer the type of wager for most of the games. As they accrue more players in New Jersey, it’s likely they will continue to add to the number of games that are available for the InPlay wagers.

William Hill’s Website

The William Hill website gets right to the point, with no nonsense and no thrills. When you go to the main page, you are greeted with the popular bets of the day, which are arranged by sport.

To the left of the screen is a column that allows you to navigate to the different wagers that are offered by InPlay, popular sports of an A-Z sports listing. While the site isn’t fancy by any means, it’s extremely easy to read, navigate and understand. You don’t have to guess as to where a wager is located, or what the odds on a particular game are either.

The colors and layout that William Hill uses are also a great choice, as they are easy on the eyes and don’t make it difficult to read, no matter whether you are visiting the site on a desktop, laptop or mobile device.

William Hill Cash Out

Some sports betting sites offer a feature that’s called a Cash Out option. This allows you to settle your bet before a game has ended to either cash in on what looks to be a win or to mitigate your losses if your wager looks doomed.

However, this option is not offered through the William Hill sportsbook, and there is no indication of whether it is something that will be offered in the future.

William Hill Mobile

William Hill offers a great mobile betting experience in New Jersey.

Overall Mobile Experience

William Hill offers both a web-based mobile version and a downloadable app. Just like the desktop version, though, the app will use geolocation services to ensure you are in the state of New Jersey when you attempt to make a bet. Once you are verified, you’ll be cleared to place any bet as well as deposit and initiate a withdrawal from your account.

William Hill App

William Hill’s mobile app is award-winning and is one of the better apps among all the sportsbook operators in New Jersey. The app is available for both Android and iOS devices, and is very easy to navigate and do everything you are able to do on the desktop version.

William Hill Deposits and Withdrawals

William Hill offers a few different options for both deposits and withdrawals. No matter what method you choose to deposit, there is a $20 minimum. There are five options for deposits to your online account – Visa, MasterCard, e-check, cash at one of their sportsbooks or via a William Hill Prepaid Card.

In New Jersey, players can make in-person deposits to their William Hill account at their retail locations at Monmouth Park Sports Book, or in Atlantic City at the Ocean Resort Casino or Tropicana Atlantic City. The prepaid card is a way to quickly fund your William Hill account and avoid potential credit card fees that could be associated with depositing directly from your credit/debit card to the William Hill site.

Keep in mind that even though sports betting is legal in New Jersey, some financial institutions may still deny your deposit because of company policies in relation to online gambling.

One of the biggest downsides to William Hill in New Jersey is that there are only two options to withdrawal funds from your account. You either have to have the funds deposited onto a William Hill prepaid card, or you must go in person to one of the company’s retail shops to get cash. With the prepaid card, you can take money out of an ATM or use it wherever Discover is accepted.

Currently, there is no option to receive a check mailed to you or to have funds transferred back onto your credit/debit card or into your bank.
