The Line: Jorge Linares -110 / Kevin Mitchell -110 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Jorge Linares and Kevin Mitchell fight Saturday at the O2 Arena for the WBC Lightweight title.
Jorge Linares enters this fight with a 38-3 record that includes 25 knockouts. Linares has won seven straight fights with his most recent win coming against Javier Prieto in December. Linares, at 29 years old, is the second fighter ever from Venezuela to have a belt in three different weight classes. Linares is a skilled fighter who relies on his speed to create offense and defense. Linares gets in and out, as he’ll take his chances but won’t push the issue on the offensive end. Still, Linares packs some serious punching power when he does connect considering five of his last six fights have ended in a knockout. This will be the first time Linares fights in London.

Kevin Mitchell enters this fight with a 39-2 record that includes 29 knockouts. Mitchell has won six straight fights, which includes a win over Daniel Estrada earlier this year. Mitchell packs good punching power and has a long, strong reach. Mitchell is very aggressive and isn’t shy when it comes to trying to land haymakers. The one knock is Mitchell can be lackluster defensively at times. Mitchell has predicted a knockout for this fight, which is how his last five fights have been decided. All but 12 of Mitchell’s fights have taken place in London, and this will be the fifth time fighting in the O2 Arena.
The line is quite interesting considering Mitchell will have all of London behind him, this is the biggest fight of his career and he’s familiar with this arena. In a pick em, I find it very hard to pick against the hometown favorite.
Yes, Linares is very capable of winning this fight and will put on a show as well. However, in a toss up, I’m going with the guy fighting on his home soil and will have the crowd giving him that extra boost.
