Zab Judah and Josh Torres fight Saturday night at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.
Zab Judah enters this fight with a 42-9-2 record that includes 29 knockouts. Judah has lost three of his last four fights and is coming off a 2013 loss to Paulie Malignaggi. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Judah in the ring, as he’s had many fights scheduled in the past but they never fell through for whatever reason. The time off may have helped the 38-year-old, as he wasn’t in great form when we’ve last seen him. On the flipside, the lengthy time away from the sport may have created too much rust to completely wipe away. When healthy and in his prime, Judah had some of the quicker hands in the sport and explosive athleticism that’s tough to match. However, that Judah is long gone at his age. This will be Judah’s 12th fight in Las Vegas.

Josh Torres enters this fight with a 15-4-2 record that includes seven knockouts. Torres has won three of his last five fights and is coming off a December win over Daniel Gonzalez. Torres is a 26-year-old American who is still trying to work his way up the totem pole, and this will clearly be the biggest fight of his career. Torres has a decent reach of 68 inches and packs some power behind those punches, which is why he’s been given the nickname “Pitbull”. Three of Torres’ last five victories have come by way of knockout. However, we haven’t seen Torres fight many noteworthy guys, so it’s really hard to judge his skills and overall potential. This will be Torres’ first fight in Las Vegas.
Judah says he still has something left in the tank and is excited to finally get a fight under his belt for the first time since December of 2013. However, the time off and Judah’s form the last time we saw him isn’t a great combination. On the flipside, Torres last two fighters have losing records. It’s impossible to pick against Judah in this fight.
Give me the old man who is attempting to make a comeback.
