Callum Smith and Hadillah Mohoumadi fight Saturday night at the Echo Arena for the EBU Super Middleweight title.
Callum Smith enters this fight with a 18-0 record that includes 13 knockouts. This will be Smith’s fourth fight since 2015, and he’s coming off a November win over Rocky Fielding. Smith proved that he’s a legit boxer after knocking out Fielding, a fight most people thought would be close. Smith has been quickly making a name for himself at 25 years old, and is doing a great job of taking the family name to even new heights. Smith is a big fighter at 6’3” and is hard to hit without getting countered. The concern for Smith is that his chin hasn’t really been tested, as majority of his bouts have ended extremely early. Smith also struggles with punch accuracy. Smith has fought majority of his career in England.
USA TODAY Sports
Hadillah Mohoumadi enters this fight with a 20-3-1 record that includes 15 knockouts. Mohoumadi has won six straight fights and is coming off a November win over Ericles Torres Marin. Mohoumadi is an experienced fighter at 35 years old and has a polished offensive game that includes quick hands. Mohoumadi has a very strong left hand and does a nice job of mixing in combinations. Mohoumadi also has to feel good heading into this fight after bouncing back strong from back-to-back losses in 2012. The concern for Mohoumadi is that he has yet to get a marquee victory, as he’s lost to the majority of his notable opponents besides Pawe? G?a?ewski in 2013. Mohoumadi may be in over his head here. This will be Mohoumadi’s second fight in England.
Mohoumadi is a solid boxer who shouldn’t be underestimated due to his ability to strike quickly and his experience. However, Smith is the total package and a young star in the making who does way too many things right. This would be a monster upset if Smith was to lose this fight.
Look for Smith to remain unbeaten.
