Hughie Fury and Fred Kassi fight Saturday at the Copper Box Arena for the WBO International heavyweight title.
Hughie Fury enters this fight with a 19-0 record that includes 10 knockouts. This will be Fury’s sixth fight since 2015, and he’s coming off a win over Dominick Guinn last month. Fury continues to skyrocket up the boxing rankings at just 21 years old, and this will be his third fight since December, as he just fought back in March. Fury is a massive human at 6’6”, has power in both hands and moves well for a guy his size on the defensive end as well. Fury is simply the real deal for a fighter such a young age, and it’s only a matter of time before he starts getting bouts with bigger names. The only concern with Fury at this point is his chin, as he hasn’t really been tested at this point. Fury has fought much of his career in the United Kingdom.
USA TODAY Sports
Fred Kassi enters this fight with a 18-4-1 record that includes 10 knockouts. Kassi has split his last six fights and is coming off a September loss to Dominic Breazeale. Kassi has some decent punching power and a proven chin that only failed him in a fight against the quality Amir Mansour. Kassi is capable of trading power punches and has the ability to land a strong right hand that can change the entire fight. However, Kassi hasn’t won a fight since August of 2013. The concern with Kassi is that his hand speed and conditioning isn’t up to par with some of the fighters he’s fought recently, and that’s likely going to be the case here again. This will be Kassi’s first fight outside the United States.
This is a massive mismatch, as Kassi hasn’t won a fight in close to three years and is giving up a six inch height advantage to Fury. Talk about angels for days with a guy who already has extreme knockout power. Kassi also has a conditioning issue that can’t help him against a fighter as skilled as Fury. This is just a fight to keep the young Fury busy.
Fury wins this fight by knockout in a very, very ugly way.
