Jarrell Miller and Nick Guivas square off Friday night at the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino.
Jarrell Miller enters this fight with a 16-0-1 record that includes 14 knockouts. This will be Miller’s seventh fight since 2015, and he’s coming off a January win over Donovan Dennis. Miller has been a full time boxer the past couple of years after splitting his time as a kickboxer as well. Miller is a massive human being at 6’4” and has an impressive reach of 75.5 inches. Miller is just all power and looks to land haymaker after haymaker. Miller has won his last five fights by knockout and does a nice job of working the body. Big Baby hopes to continue taking as many fights as possible and eventually schedule a bout with Bermane Stiverne. This will be Miller’s 11th fight in New York, his home state.
USA TODAY Sports
Nick Guivas enters this fight with a 12-3-2 record that includes nine knockouts. Guivas has won five of his last six fights and is coming off a December win over Matthew Greer. Guivas has found some consistency despite turning 38 years old at the end of the year. Guivas doesn’t have a lot of video out there, but he has shown an impressive right hand and does have some knockout power with six of his last eight wins coming by stoppage. Guivas has a reach of 73 inches and has shown decent defense in the limited film out there. Guivas should also be well rested for this bout with a little more than five months out of the ring. This will be Guivas’ first fight in New York.
As for a prediction, there’s little question that Miller is going to win this fight. Big Baby has a five-inch reach advantage, is much taller than Guivas and has the overwhelming power that not too many guys can keep up with. Miller is a bad dude and considering Guivas has been knocked out twice already, this is sure to get ugly.
Look for Miller to win by knockout.
