Enzo Maccarinelli and Dmytro Kucher fight Friday night at the York Hall for the European Cruiserweight title.
Enzo Maccarinelli enters this fight with a 41-7 record that includes 33 knockouts. Maccarinelli has won six of his last seven fights and is coming off a December win over Roy Jones Jr. Maccarinelli is a massive fighter at 6’4” with a reach of over 74 inches, and he does a fine job of setting up his power shots with a stiff jab. Maccarinelli has won his last six fights by knockout, proving there’s still something left in that tank despite turning 36 years old in a couple of months. Maccarinelli is dangerous when he can use his size to his advantage and kind of bully his opponent. Of course the concern with Maccarinelli is that all seven of his losses have been knockouts, so that chin is an issue. This will be Maccarinelli’s eighth fight in London.

Dmytro Kucher enters this fight with a 23-1-1 record that includes 17 knockouts. Kucher has won six of his last eight fights and is coming off a October draw against Bilal Laggoune. Kucher is coming off a controversial fight has been rather consistent throughout his career. Kucher has just recently started to take fights out of his comfort zone in Ukraine, and he has a powerful right hand that’s helped produce knockouts in 68 percent of his fights. Kucher also has a proven chin as he’s never been knocked out and he’s the only fighter to take the powerful fighter Ilunga Makabu to a decision. The concern is Kucher hasn’t looked great his last few fights and hasn't produced a knockout since his 2012 bout against Steve Herelius. This will be Kucher’s first fight in London.
This should be a fun fight between two guys with knockout power and who have been very consistent throughout their careers. The issue for me is the fact we’ve seen Maccarinelli get knocked out many times, which doesn’t bode well against Kucher’s power. We’ve also seen Kucher hang in the ring with guys who have impressive power, so this shouldn’t be anything new for him.
Because of Maccarinelli’s weak chin, I’m taking Kucher to win this fight.
