The Line: Martinez +1800 / Lomachenko -3600 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

Vasyl Lomachenko and Roman Martinez fight Saturday at Madison Square Garden for the WBO junior lightweight title.

Vasyl Lomachenko enters this fight with a 5-1 record that includes three knockouts. Lomachenko has won his last four fights and is coming off a November win over Romulo Koasicha. Lomachenko has bounced back nicely from his upset loss to Orlando Salido, as he’s starting to show why he was one of the highly regarded prospects in the world. Lomachenko is a very balanced fighter who has a high boxing IQ, terrific defense, great footwork and obvious punching power when he turns to his offense. Lomachenko has everything it takes to be a star but just needs more experience and big fights like this to improve his small pro resume. This will be Lomachenko’s first fight in New York.

Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Roman Martinez Boxing Preview, Pick, Odds, Prediction - 6/11/16

Roman Martinez enters this fight with a 29-2-3 record that includes 17 knockouts. Martinez has won five of his last eight fights and is coming off a September draw to Orlando Salido. Martinez has been a little shaky in his last six fights which include a couple of draws and a knockout loss to Mikey Garcia. Still, Martinez moves well in the ring, has underrated power and is a proven veteran who has to be confident heading into this bout. Martinez has 238 rounds under his belt and has proven himself, while Lomachenko has just 59 rounds in six fights. The concern with Martinez is the fact he drops his hands often, leaving himself open for a big counter. This will be Martinez’s second fight in New York.

Martinez is a tough dude who has been in the ring with solid fighters and will be able to use his experience to his advantage in this fight. However, Lomachenko is by far the more talented boxer and should be able to take Martinez to school after a round or two figuring him out. Lomachenko is a star in the making and Martinez doesn’t have much for him in this bout.

Look for Lomachenko to win his fifth straight fight.
