George Groves and Martin Murray fight Saturday at The O2 Arena for the WBA International super-middleweight title.
George Groves enters this fight with 23-3 record that includes 18 knockouts. Groves has won four of his last five fights and is coming off a April win over David Brophy. Groves has bounced back from his loss to Badou Jack with back-to-back knockout victories and look for his third straight win for the first time since 2013. Groves has been a tad bit shaky with all three of his losses coming recently and two of those losses being knockouts. However, Groves is never to be taken lightly, as his hand speed and athleticism is as good as it gets. Groves also has terrific power and has won six of his last seven fights by knockout. Groves has fought much of his career in London, his birthplace.

Martin Murray enters this fight with a 33-3-1 record that includes 16 knockouts. Murray has won six of his last eight fights and is coming off a May win over Cedric Spera. Murray has looked sharp since his loss to Gennady Golovkin, as he’s won four of his last five fights with his only loss being a split decision to Arthur Abraham. Murray is a tough nosed fighter who enters this ring with a ton of heart and isn’t going to quit even if that means he’ll get knocked down a couple of times. Murray has been able to hang in the ring with some very skilled fighters. The concern with Murray has always been his lack of power, but he has been working with trainer Oliver Harrison in hopes of improving in that area. This will be Murray’s sixth fight in London.
Anytime Murray is boxing against above-average fighters, I usually side with his opponent due to his inability to finish fights. Groves is not only the more talented boxer here, but he also has a 69 percent knockout percentage.
This is a highly anticipated fight that should be entertaining for however long it lasts, but Groves should get the victory.
