Tyrone Nurse and Tommy Coyle fight Saturday at the First Direct Arena for the British super-lightweight title.
Tyrone Nurse enters this fight with a 33-2-1 record that includes seven knockouts. Nurse has won 10 of his last 12 fights and is coming off a May win over Willie Limond. Nurse has worked his way up the ranks for quite some time, as he turned pro eight years ago and has over 200 rounds under his belt at just 26 years old. Nurse is a technical fighter who takes what his opponent gives him and simply knows how to win rounds. Nurse is a smart boxer and isn’t going to get caught out of position often. The only real downfall with Nurse is his lack of punching power, despite knocking out his last opponent. Nurse has fought his entire career in the United Kingdom, his birthplace.

Tommy Coyle enters this fight with a 22-3 record that includes 10 knockouts. Coyle has won seven of his last eight fights and is coming off a May win over Reynaldo Mora. Coyle is the current IBF International lightweight champion and hopes to redeem himself after losing his last big fight against Luke Campbell. Coyle brings a fighting spirit into the ring, as he has a huge heart and extreme determination to get the job done. Coyle also has the power advantage in this fight and has won three of his last six bouts by knockout. The concern with Coyle is his jaw, as two of his three losses have come by knockout. Coyle has fought his whole career in the United Kingdom, his birthplace.
Coyle’s weakness won’t come into play much considering Nurse doesn’t have the power to expose it. However, Nurse is the more polished boxer overall and will be able to do what he usually does to win rounds and take this bout in a decision. Coyle struggles against smart fighters who are better boxers than he is, and that’s the case here.
Nurse wins the title.
