Badou Jack and Dervin Colina fight Sunday at the Hard Rock Stadium in an exhibition boxing match. Jack enters this fight with a 23-3-3 record that includes 13 knockouts. Colina enters this fight with a 15-0 record that includes 13 knockouts.

Jack has split his last last eight fights and is coming off a November win over Blake McKernan. He’s coming off a decision win that snapped a string of losses and his first victory since August of 2017. Jack now looks for back-to-back wins for the first time since 2015-16.

Jack is a 37-year-old who stands at 6’1”, has a 73-inch reach and an orthodox stance. He is a well balanced fighter who has a great jab and some knockout power that’s stopped four of his last 10 victories. Jack does have a bad habit of lunging forward when punching, but he’s fun to watch and tough to beat when he’s comfortable and being aggressive offensively.

The issue is that Jack has left a lot of recent fights to the judges and many haven’t been clear decisions. Jack also isn’t getting any younger, so his bouts are numbered at this point. This will be Jack’s first career fight in Florida.

This will be Colina’s seventh fight since 2019 and is coming off a February win over Wilman Contreras. Colina will fight for the third time since December and is coming off a second round knockout victory. He’s 33 years old, stands at 5’11” and has a 74-inch reach.

Colina has finished each of his last six opponents and has fought a combined five rounds in his last three fights. The power is obviously there for Colina, but we also have to question the strength of his resume. Colina has not fought anybody notable and this is head and shoulders his toughest bout yet.

It should also be noted there’s little to no film available on Colina, so I’m not sure anybody knows what to expect. This will be Colina’s first career fight outside of Venezuela.

Colina has knockout power and that gives him a punchers chance. However, Colina hasn’t fought anybody worth mentioning, so I question his results. Jack is by far the more accomplished fighter in this spot and easily more trustworthy. Yes, Jack is getting up there in age and has slowed down a bit, but this is a fight he should still win.

Give me Jack for the victory and I’ll predict a knockout to shave down the price.
