The Colorado State Rams visit the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, with both teams looking to rebound from opening day losses.
Colorado State dropped a disappointing 41-28 decision to instate rival Colorado in the opener for both teams. The Rams are undoubtedly annoyed for losing against their rivals and especially when they led 24-23 heading in to the fourth quarter. That's when the wheels fell off, with the offense invisible and the Buffaloes adding insult to injury with a 53 yard fumble return for six. Having said that, the numbers didn't add up favorably for the Rams who were out gained 513-295 and were 2-14 on third down conversions. Part of the problem was a struggling running game that mustered just 94 yards, while Garrett Grayson (22-39/201) didn't connect often enough with receivers, while Colorado threw for 400 yards.

Tulsa lost some talent from a year ago, but the cupboard was far from bare so I believed they would give Bowling Green a battle, despite being on the road. After watching a 34-7 thrashing that featured missed field goals and a lack of competive spirit in the second half, I am totally not on board with this team. The box score tells the story of a one-sided affair that the Falcons led 6-0 before the Golden Hurricane were outscored 28-7 over the final 30 minutes. I might have expected too much from Cody Green and the offense, but his 17-34 effort for 172 yards was poor, even against a good defense. The running game was nonexistent as well, with a mere 51 yards on 24 carries, which played a part in having the ball only 21 minutes. The defensive side of the football gave up almost 400 yards, but I'm thinking they were on the field most of the time and finally broke down in the second half.
If I were Tulsa, I'd be worried about Colorado State and after their opener, why not? I'm annoyed at the effort I saw from this team and would expect to see some fire in their bellies in game two.
