Peden Stadium and the Ohio Bobcats host the Marshall Thundering Herd in week three action.
Through two games Marshall has been dominant on both sides of the football but it's early and the competition has been far from tough. Sub division Gardner Webb proved to be no challenge as the Thundering Herd took a 34-0 lead at the break on the way to a 55-0 rout. The numbers tell the story with Marshall owning a 509-184 edge in yardage with equal ability to run or throw. Steward Butler paced the ground game with 151 yards on just nine totes and three touchdowns while Rakeem Cato went 16-28 for 230 yards and a score and interception. The defense interceprted three passes and returned one 70 yards for six and the special teams brought back a kick 45 yards.

After getting blasted by Louisville in the opener Ohio rebounded to grind out a 27-21 decision over visiting North Texas. Even though the Bobcats dominated total yards 442-299, the Mean Green refused to fold and were tied 21-21 with 13 minutes left before the home team nailed two field goals in the final eight minutes. The Bobcats exerted themselves on the ground with 203 yards as Ryan Boykin and Beau Blankenship combining for 176 yards on 33 carries. Tyler Tettleton was effective through the air, going 19-30 for 239 yards with a pair of touchdowns and two picks with Chase Cochran snaring six balls for 103 yards including a 75 yard TD. The Bobcats 'D' got in to the scoring column as well with a 46 yard pick six.
The Thundering Herd have played some defense through two games even though the competition wasn't stout. However, that's a vast improvement from a year ago and I'm inclined to back them although I might change up here before game day...
