The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Colorado State Rams face off on Saturday in Tuscaloosa in college football action.
The Alabama Crimson Tide remain the number one team in the nation and they are 2-0 thus far this season including a win over Texas A&M, the last team to beat them. Alabama’s offense looked out of sync in week one against Virginia Tech and in the early going at College Station against the Aggies but once the Tide got rolling, they looked unstoppable. A.J. McCarron has completed less than 58 percent of his passes but he has five touchdowns and just one interception. T.J. Yeldon is carrying the load in backfield averaging 5.2 yards per carry and scoring two touchdowns while Jalston Fowler and Kenyan Drake have had limited carries thus far DeAndrew White and Amari Cooper each have six catches and Kevin Norwood has four as they lead the Alabama in receptions. While the Alabama defense made plays when they needed to last Saturday they also gave up 42 points and while they have three interceptions they have just two sacks and one fumble recovery. C.J. Mosley leads the Tide with 19 tackles, Landon Collins has 12, and Vinnie Sunseri has two interceptions. In week four of the season and Alabama’s third game of the year they are playing their first home game of the season.

The Colorado State Rams got their first win of the season last week but it came against FCS Cal-Poly. The Rams lost their first two games of the year losing to rival Colorado then dropping a game by three to Tulsa. QB Garrett Grayson has competed 56.1 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and two interceptions. In the backfield Chris Nwoke is averaging five yards per carry and has scored a touchdown and Kapri Bibbs is averaging 5.7 yards per carry with three touchdowns. Rashard Higgins has nine receptions to lead CSU and Jordon Vaden and Kivon Cartwright have eight catches each. The Colorado State defense has one interception, two fumble recoveries, and three sacks and they are allowing over 175 yards per game on the ground. Aaron Davis leads the Rams defense with 26 tackles and Kevin Pierre-Louis and Max Morgan each have 24 tackles. The reality of it is Colorado State is really up against it in this one.
Alabama is 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 non-conference games, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven home games, and 7-3 against the spread against a team with a losing record. Colorado State is 7-17 against the spread in their last 24 road games, 1-5 against the spread following a win, and 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games.
Colorado State is getting a ton of points here but the issue is, this isn’t even a good Colorado State team and their inability to stop the run is a very bad sign against T.J. Yeldon and the Bama running game.
