The Wake Forest Demon Deacons visit the Army Black Knights on Saturday.
The Army Black Knights fell to 1-2 on the season after losing to Stanford at home 34-20 last Saturday. The fifth-ranked Stanford Cardinal went into the locker room at halftime leading Army only by 7 points. However, the Cardinal took over in the second half, scoring 14 straight and pulling away from Army. Army gained 333 yards of total offense with 284 yards coming on the ground in the loss. QB Schurr completed 4 of 5 passes for 25 yards and a touchdown. RB Baggett carried the ball 9 times for 96 yards, while RB Santiago carried the ball 17 times for 54 yards. The Black Knight defense allowed 408 yards of total offense, but did force 2 turnovers in the loss. Army should be able to run the effectively against Wake Forest this week and if they don’t they’ll be in trouble, considering that’s basically all the Black Knights rely on offensively. Defensively, Army will have to step it up in order to win this game against the visiting Demon Deacons.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons dropped to 1-2 on the season after losing at home to Louisiana-Monroe, 21-19, on Saturday. The Wake Forest offense gained only 325 total yards of offense, with only 15 rushing yards. QB Tanner Price threw for 310 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Demon Deacons, with both scores going to WR Orville Reynolds, who finished with 3 grabs for 101 yards. Wake Forest fought back with a late drive over the final two minutes with the help of WR Michael Campanaro. Campanaro finished the game with 16 catches, tying a single-game ACC record, for 177 yards. The Demon Deacons allowed 424 total yards on defense, 315 thru the air and 109 on the ground. ULM was able to convert 15 of 28 3rd downs and picked up 26 third downs against the Demon Deacons defense, which enabled them to control the clock and dictate the pace of play. Wake Forest won’t have trouble defending the pass against Army but they will have to find away to stop the rushing attack or they will lose their third game of the year.
Wake Forest is 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The over is 5-0-1 in Army’s last 6 games against the ACC.
Wake Forest has won 9 out of the last 10 meetings between these two teams dating back to 1986. Last year, Wake Forest won 49-37 at home against Army. I think Army will be able to move the ball on the ground and put up some points at home against Wake Forest in this one. I also think Wake Forest will be able to establish a solid passing game against the Black Knights. Both of the defenses are weak and the offenses should each score at least 24 points, so my play is the over. I also think it will be a close game so I’ll take the points with the home dog.
