The Toledo Rockets head to Central Michigan on Saturday to face off against the Chippewas.
The Central Michigan Chippewas are currently sitting at 1-2 on the year after the Chippewas fell to the UNLV Rebels last Saturday 31-21. Central Michigan is really struggling this season as the Chippewas are ranked 108th in the nation in scoring offense, and 110th in the nation in scoring defense, allowing 37 points per game on average. Against the Rebels, the Chippewas put up 378 yards of offense, against 411 yards of offense against the Rebels. Central Michigan’s freshman quarterback Cooper Rush finished the day going 23/46 for 265 yards and one score against two picks. Defensively the Chippewas had trouble stopping the Rebels passing attack as UNLV racked up 289 yard through the air and three scores.

The Toledo Rockets are 1-2 this season after defeating Eastern Washington last weekend 33-21. The Rockets got their first win of the season against Eastern Washington, and with all due respect to the Eagles, the Rockets first two opponents were the Gators and the Missouri Tigers, so Eastern Washington must have felt like a breath of fresh air. The Rockets moved the ball well against the Eagles, putting up 530 yards of offense on the day. Rockets QB Woodside was decent, completing 14/24 for 185 yards and a score. The Rockets love to run the ball, and Toledo was able to run all over this Eagles defense. Toledo racked up 325 yards on the ground for the day, finishing the game with an average of 6.4 yards per carry.
The Rockets are 1-1 against the spread on the road this season, while Central Michigan is 0-1 against the number at home. The past three seasons when playing with six or less days of rest, the Rockets are 10-8 against the spread, while the Chippewas are just 5-14 against the number within that same time frame. Also, in their past 13 home games, the Chippewas are just 3-10 against the spread and 6-7 overall.
I'm going to have to take the Toledo Rockets in this spot. The Rockets are far from dominant, but as of right now the Chippewas are one of the worst teams in the FBS. I don't love this play and feel there are safer ones on the board for Saturday, but having to choose I'll back the Rockets here on Saturday.
