The Idaho Vandals and the Washington State Cougars take the field at Martin Stadium on Saturday.
If you are an Idaho fan you have to be proud of the way your team gave 100% against against Northern Ilinois before falling 45-35. At the same time there is disappointment but perhaps gives the team some hope going forward that they can't be over looked and can make some plays. In the end the defense couldn't stop Jordan Lynch and the Huskies who piled up 508 yards. The Vandals weren't bad with 438 yards but three lost fumbles certainly hurt them. I would say Idaho's game plan of running the ball to keep their defense off the field might have worked to some degree but wasn't effective in terms of yardage with 62 totes netting 191 yards and just over three yard average. Chad Chalich had his moments in the air with 236 yards and a pair of scoring strikes but the offense was held to just seven points in the second half.

Regardless of what Washington State does going forward they will be known for knocking off USC which seems every one in the country loved except for Trojans fans. The Cougars followed up with a 48-10 rout of Southern Utah which was smart scheduling in case there would be a let down. That was a non worry with the home team racing out to a 28-10 lead after 30 minutes and not looking back with a 462-219 advantage in total yards telling the story. The issue with WSU is they still can't run the ball even against the Thunderbirds with 17 carries resulting in 54 yards. The good news was Connor Holliday had a field day through the air with 383 yards on 32-41 with five touchdowns and one interception. Dominique Williams caught three balls for 101 yards including 43 and 55 yard TD's while River Cracraft notched six receptions for 87 yards. The defense got on the scoreboard as well with 72 yard pick six.
I don't see Idaho hanging with Washington State like they did a week ago with the Cougars sure to take notice of that game and what will happen if not prepared. I can see WSU winning easily but will Idaho back door cover with such a huge number? Not a game I like but I can see enough points for the over but not by much...
