The Iowa State Cyclones will be on the road to face the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Thursday night.
Iowa State is off to an 0-2 start thanks to a 27-21 home defeat at the hands of rival Iowa. The Cyclones have not stood out on either side of the ball but are struggling more offensively after a 319 yard performance versus the Hawkeyes. Just 14 first downs, two turnovers and 22 minutes of possession tell the story as the one dimensional ISU attack could not run with 24 attempts netting just 59 yards and less then 2 1/2 yards per touch. Sam Richardson and the receiving corps did have success moving the chains with Richardson completing 22-39 for 260 yards for three scores and a pair of picks. Quenton Bundrage was the receiving star with seven catches for 146 yards and three TD's. The defense held Iowa to 378 yards despite spending the majority of the game on the field.

Tulsa dropped to 1-2 in 2013 following a 51-20 loss at Oklahoma in a big instate rivalry. The Golden Hurricane are trying to fit some new faces in the lineup and new faces against the Sooners is not a recipe' for success. It wasn't on this day with Oaklahoma amassing a 607-321 advantage in total yards with over 35 minutes of possession. While OU had success throwing and running the Golden Hurricane mustered just 95 yards and averaged just over three yards per carry which put the weight of moving the chains on the passing attack that picked up some second half yardage. Cody Green completed 17-33 for 226 yards and an interception with Jordon James grabbing six ball for 100 yards. In reality the Offense needed considerably more with the Sooners able to move the ball at will.
Neither team has impressed me with both offenses looking like plain vanilla at best. However, I think Iowa State and the points are the way to go in a close game...
