Hughes Stadium and the Colorado State Rams host the Texas El Paso Miners in week five.
On paper Texas El Paso had a real shot at a 3-0 start but things haven't worked out as planned with the team going 1-2 following a 32-13 loss to Texas San Antonio. Thr Roadrunners didn't rack up huge yardage with 390 yards but the Miners were far behind in that area with only 218 yards. The UTEP special teams might have been the best unit on the field with a 100 yard kick return by Autrey Golden which was their highlight of the afternoon. Golden also led the Miners with 39 rushing yards for a unit that didn't crack 100. Jameill Showers had very little succes through the air with too many misfires in a short passing attack that needed to get the ball down field. Showers completed 17-31 for 119 yards with few throws longer then ten yards.

Colorado State's claim to fame just might be their 31-6 defeat at Alabama in week four. Why? Because they scored and the Crimson Tide didn't hang 50 on them as a 40 point favorite. The flip side to this was Bama couldn't have cared less about running up the score and simply wanted to win and stay healthy with the SEC schedule in front of them. Having said that the Rams did what they could but 279 yards was not going to win this with 52 rushing yards an two yard average forcing CSU to the air. That wasn't a bad option with Garrett Grayson connecting on 24-38 for 228 yards with Joe Hansley and Rashard Higgins combining for 153 yards on 13 receptions. Take away a 15 yard blocked punt Bama returned for a touchdown and you have to give the Rams some credit in not giving up.
Let me start by saying that I think Colorado State has an edge here but this is a big spread for a team that isn't normally a favorite. I'm backing the Rams but not at all comfortable...
