The Line: Idaho Vandals 9.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The 0-3 Temple Owls head west for a non-conference matchup with the 0-4 Idaho Vandals Saturday evening at 5PM.
Idaho returns home after being destroyed on the road this past weekend by the Washington State Cougars 42-0. Idaho continued to struggle on the offensive side of the ball and now rank 120th in the nation in points with 12.8 per game -- a number that is skewed heavily by their 35 point showing against Northern Illinois two weeks ago. Against the Cougars, Idaho had the ball for 17 more minutes, but only managed 278 total yards and turned the ball over twice. The Vandals were somewhat opportunistic on D as they forced four total turnovers - but were unable to convert any of those into points. The Vandals will face a less daunting task with Temple’s offense this weekend, but will need to manufacture some points if they want any shot at stealing a win here.

Temple comes off a bye week entering this contest and you can guarantee they will be focused for this one after an embarrassing 30-29 loss to 1-AA Fordham two weekends ago. The Owls struggled to even stay in the game for 3 quarters as the Rams built a 20-7 lead before opening the door for the Owl offense in the 4th quarter. Connor Reilly shared snaps in this one but was the catalyst for all their points, including a TD to former quarterback Chris Coyer with 4 minutes left that gave Temple the 29-23 lead. The Owls defense responded by letting the Rams march down the field and score on a 29 yards pass with just four seconds left to seal the upset victory. Temple will need to be more effective through the air moving forward if they hope to salvage a season that is unwinding quickly.
Some trends to consider -- Temple is 14-2 against the spread in their last 16 contests versus Independent teams and Idaho is 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 after a ATS loss.
Both of these teams have a ton to work on and even though a road trip can always be tricky, I like the Owls to rebound from their defeat against Fordham and take it to an Idaho team that is much less talented. Look for Connor Reilly to have a big game through the air and the Owl offense to show more balance as they take the victory on the road by 10-14 points.
