The Wyoming Cowboys take a trip to Bobcat Stadium to take the field with the Texas State Bobcats.
The Cowboys come in to week five riding a three game winning streak following 56-23 pounding of Air Force on the road. Wyoming has proven to be a handful offensively with the number eight offense in the land that is averaging more then 550 yards and nearly 42 points with the ability to run and throw. That trand continued versus the Falcons with 622 yards and 34 first downs with dual threat QB Brett Smith the star of the show. Smith ran for a team high 138 yards and a touchdown and picked apart the Air Force secondary on a near perfect 35-41 for 373 yards with four touchdowns. Dominic Rufran led the receiving corps with 117 yards on eight receptions with three players combining for 26 catches.

I don't know what to expect from Texas State as far as wins and losses but through three games I see they like to grind things out and rely on their defense to control the scoreboard. That worked fine in a 2-0 start with victories over Southern Mississippi and Prairie View but not so well in a 33-7 loss to Texas Tech with their offense stalling. The Bobcats did a decent enough job of controlling the scoreboard although the Red Raiders totaled 552 yards while Texas State mustered 240. The real issue was a lack of punch on the ground where they needed to grind out some yards and eat some clock but 107 yards on 37 carries says that didn't happen. Tyler Arndt (12-23/108) didn't have much success in the air either which left the Bobcats defense to fend for themselves.
I am wary of Texas State because the world is on Wyoming and I hate being with the public. However, the Cowboys ability to move the chains in any matter is impressive with Smith a tough match up so I will be with the public this time...
