The Washington State Cougars face the Stanford Cardinal in a crucial Pac 12 tilt.
Stanford has yet to be challenged in beginning 2013 at 3-0 but they really haven't laid any beat downs on opponents thus far. The Cardinal were on the verge of delivering a knock out blow to Arizona State with a 39-7 lead before the Sun Devils used a 21 point 4th quarter to make the final score a respectable 42-28. Stanford totaled 392 yards with most of the damage done through three quarters. The Cardinal kept mostly on the ground with the rushing attack producing 241 yards and averaging five yards per pop with Tyler Gaffney leading the way with 95 yards followed by Anthony Wilkerson and another 68 yards. Kevin Hogan (11-17/151) enjoyed a short but efficient night in the passing attack with a pair of scores and a pick Devon Cajuste and Ty Montgomery combining for 129 yards on seven catches.

After dropping their opener at Auburn, Washington State has gone on a 3-0 run which included a victory over rival Southern Cal. The Cougars waffled visiting Idaho in week four by a 42-0 count that wasn't a great performance with four turnovers with several coming in the red zone in what could have been an even bigger rout. WSU got away with the missed oportunities because the Vandals turned the ball over twice, missed a few field goals and squandered chances in the red zone as well even though it wouldn't have mattered. Connor Halliday had a field day in the air, completing 31-43 for 346 yards with four touchdowns and a pair of interceptions which was enough to easily down the out manned Vandals.
Stanford has the advantage on paper and this is a neutral field but the Cardinal can play down to their competition which is not to say WSU is that far below them. I'm leaning to the Stanford and watching the line...
