The Ohio Bobcats shoot for a conference road victory over the Akron Zips in week six.
After getting blown out by Louisville in the season opener, Ohio has ripped off three consecutive victories after blasting outmanned Austin Peay 38-0. The Bobcats racked up almost 500 yards in any way they chose with the ability to both run and throw. To their credit, Ohio tried to keep the scoreboard respectable by running 46 times for over 250 yards and 5 1/2 yard average. Daz'mond Patterson led the way with 94 yards, while Ryan Boykin plowed ahead for 57 yards, with both finding the end zone. Tyler Tettleton enjoyed a near perfect day in the air with a 13-15 effort for 213 yards with three touchdowns. The defense shut down the Governors on 298 yards. despite three lost fumbles by the Ohio offense.

Akron's claim to fame might be their last second loss to Michigan, but the reality of this team is they stand at 1-4 following a 31-14 defeat at Bowling Green as a two touchdown underdog. Visions of their near upset of the Wolverines must have flashed before their eyes as the Zips led 14-0 at the break before things fell apart in the final 30 minutes as the Falcons finished the game on a 21-0 run. The Zips simply struggled to move the chains in the second half and finished with only 296 yards, with less then 100 coming on the ground. Kyle Pohl had marginal success through the air with 199 yards on 22-37 with a touchdown but misfires and problems getting the ball down field hurt them with Bowling Green able to stretch the field in the second half.
Akron has proven to be capable at times, but sustaining the positives for a full 60 minutes has been an issue. I like Ohio, but if they are laying a touchdown on the road they can't be fumbling the ball away and need to pound the ball on the ground...
