The San Jose State Spartans make the long trip to Aloha Stadium to face the Hawaii Warriors.
San Jose State has already reached the point where they have to start stringing together some wins and that means finding some offense and defense. Neither were a factor in a 40-12 loss to visiting Utah State that left the Spartans staring at 1-3. SJSU was out gained 520-437 so they did move the ball but were hurt badly with a lost fumble and three interceptions. The Spartans needed to carve out some room on the ground and were forced to rely on the right arm of David Fales which is generally not a bad option but a nice 314 yard night through the air was marred by three picks and too many misfires.

It's easy to look at Hawaii's 0-4 start and simply say this is a bad team but in my view they are improved although a postseason berth isn't in their immediate future. A 42-37 defeat at the hands of visiting Fresno State was a tale of two games with Fresno winning the first half 21-3 while UH won the second 34-21 in a rare display of scoring punch. A pick six and two picks overall combining with three fumble recoveries helped with the scoring burst with Sean Schroeder leading the way with 321 passing yards with three touchdowns and an interception with Chris Gant recording four receptions for 133 yards. This proved to be too little, too late with the Bulldogs holding a 42-3 lead before the come back.
Great rally by Hawaii last Saturday but they are facing a desperate San Jose State squad who better win. I think they do and if they get a big lead I don't think they will let up...
