The Northern Illinois Huskies visit Dix Stadium to face the conference rival Kent State Golden Flashes.
Northern Illinois is hoping all the kinks have been worked out in their 55-24 rout of Purdue in what has been an erratic performance from this team despite their 4-0 start. The Huskies did not look good in wins over Idaho and Eastern Illinois but reversed that trend against the Boilermakers. Even though Purdue gained over 500 yards the defense finally did something with five forced giveaways including a pick six while the kick return unit brought back a kick 99 yards. Jordan Lynch continued to produce with 207 passing yards and a trio of touchdowns with 35 more yards on the ground and a score while Cameron Stingily ran for a team high 74 yards.

Kent State evened their overall record at 2-2 and improved their conference mark to 1-1 in a 32-14 victory over Western Michigan. The 32 points was easily the season high for what has been a quiet offensive performance through four games. KSU didn't need much as they out gained the Broncos 452-310 with 26 first downs and a 9-16 conversion rate on third down. The return of Dri Archer might have been part of the scoring burst with 73 rushing yards and 48 receiving yards but he wasn't alone. Trayion Durham paced the ground game with 154 yards on 26 carries with a pair of touchdowns while Colin Reardon threw for 176 yards with two scores and an interception.
Archer automatically makes Kent State dangerous but I'm not sure he is 100% which has me favoring Northern Illinois. Probably wouldn't play this until I was convinced on Archer's health and there are plenty of other games to choose from...
