Joan C. Edwards Stadium will be jumping when the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners face the Marshall Thundering Herd.
Texas-San Antonio was given a better then even chance at upending visiting Houston on Saturday but faded over the final 30 minutes after forging a 21-21 tie heading in to the break. Both teams moved the ball with nearly 500 yards of offense but the Roadrunners were killed by five turnovers which gave the Cougars too many scoring chances. UTSA ran the ball just 29 times for 128 yards split among eight players but generally preferred to air it out with Eric Soza completing 29-40 for 316 yards with a pair of touchdowns and three interceptions with one returned 96 yards for six. The special teams also had a punt returned for a Houston score so the defense wasn't entirely to blame.

Marshall has had a week off to lick their wounds following an overtime 29-21 loss to Virginia Tech that dropped their record to 2-2. The Thundering Herd would have been sitting pretty with a win and another step towards a Bowl but now have to win to get back on track. Marshall held a 21-14 lead after 30 minutes but never scored again with their high powered attack totaling a mere 361 yards with Essray Taliaferro pickig up 106 yards on the ground. Rakeem Cato had a miserable day under center, going 19-41 for 228 yards with a pair of scoring tosses and two interceptions but the bottom line is when the defense holds the Hokies to 21 points in regulation the game has to go in to the win column especially when six points were scored on a VT punt block return.
Marshall has to recover from the Virginia Tech loss which probably shouldn't have been or their season could be in jeopardy. I am backing them with the expectation that the offense will put up some points...
