The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks take the field with the visiting Central Michigan Chippewas on Saturday.
Central Michigan has struggled on both sides of the ball and without Cody Kater and Zurlon Tipton I don't see the offense picking it up anytime soon. The hand writing was on the wall versus high octane North Carolina State without much of their firepower as the Wolfpack rolled to a 48-14 victory. NC State manhandled the Chipewas and added insult to injury with a pick six and punt return for six more. The Chips needed yards and points and received neither with only 259 yards and 2-12 on third down while turning the ball over three times. Maurice Shoemaker-Gilmore might have been the offensive star with 63 yards on five carries with Cooper Rush struggling in the air on 16-37 for 165 yards with a TD and three picks.

Miami (Ohio) is in the same boat as Central Michigan in that scoring points has been a huge struggle and keeping opposing attacks out of the end zone just as problematic. A 50-14 loss at Illinois dropped the Redhawks to 0-4 in 2013 and summed up what this team has been going through. The Illini piled up over 600 yards on the way to a 36-0 bulge at the break while the Redhawks were held to 250 yards. The gameplan was sound with Miami (Ohio) keeping things on the ground as much as possible but the results weren't. They ran the ball 41 times for 155 yards with Austin Gearing producing a respectable 81 yards on 16 carries. Austin Boucher completed 7-13 for 95 yards and a touchdown but lacked the ability to stretch the field.
This isn't one of those made for TV games with the fans of each school probaby the only interested parties. I'm not interested in putting money on a game where the teams are a combined 1-8 but I will throw this pick out there...
