The East Carolina Pirates visit the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders in week six action.
It wasn't all that long ago that East Carolina was all about racing up and down the field and scoring as many points as possible because they had to with a defense that provided marginal resistance. The Pirates can still rack up the points and have found at least some defense with both doing enough in 55-31 rout of instate rival North Carolina. ECU simply torched the Tar Heels for 603 yards in any way they chose any where on the field. Vintavious Cooper had a field day on the ground with 186 yards on 35 carries while Shane Carden threw for 376 yards with three touchdowns an interception.

Any one who was able to sit through the mess of a performance the Blue Raiders put on in a 37-10 loss to Brigham Young must have been Cougars fans. It's hard to believe Middle Tennessee State actually had a 10-7 first quarter lead before allowing 27 stright points. Taysom Hill was hitting less then 40% of his throws then can't throw an incompletion in a 14-18 night so you can imagine what the rest of the game looked like with MTSU unable to run which combined with the inability to throw. Logan Kilgore completed 13-31 for a mere 82 yards for a touchdown and interception for a quarterback rating of 17 (not a misprint). The defense allowed over 300 rushing yards in a game that was essentially over by the half.
If Middle Tennessee State plays close to what we saw against Brigham Young the result will be even worse. I'll add that if Kilgore struggles he would be on the bench in the second quarter and not see the field again. This doesn't look like a favorable match up for the home team but perhaps ECU has a let down after beating Carolina. Not sure about that but right now I'll lay the points...
