The New Mexico State Aggies head to University Stadium to face the New Mexico Lobos with the Maloof Trophy on the line.
Pass first New Mexico State shoots for their first win of 2013 after falling to San Diego State 26-16. The Aggies appeared to have their first win in the bag with a 16-0 lead before the Aztecs ended the game with a 26-0 run. The Aztecs mustered a 436-268 advantage in real estate balanced between the run and pass, while the Aggies were one dimensional with nothing of note coming on the ground, with just 40 yards. That wasn't a surprise with the offense generally leaning on the passing of Andrew McDonald who completed 23-35 for 228 yards and a pair of scoring strikes. Joshua Bowen and Adam Shapiro were the receivers of choice with a combined 124 yards on eleven catches.

New Mexico supposedly had UNLV right where they wanted them, but couldn't stop a thing on defense in a 56-42 defeat. Nobody must have told the Lobos that the Rebels struggle away from home with the visitors piling up 568 yards and scoring early and often in any manner they chose. New Mexico was no slouch in the offensive department with 581 yards led by the nation's number three rushing attack that totaled 497 yards on 59 carries for nearly 8 1/2 yards per touch. The three pronged ground assault saw Kasey Carrier grind out 192 yards with Carlos Wiggins and Cole Gautsche running for 119 and 108 yards respectively while Gautsche threw for another 74 yards.
I like the New Mexico run against the Aggies defense more than the air attack of New Mexico State against the Lobos secondary. I don't know if I like it as a touchdown favorite, however, but that's how I'm going for now...
