The Florida International Golden Panthers square off with the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles Saturday.
Florida International and their 0-4 start to the 2013 campaign tells us this isn't the same team that went Bowling a few short years ago. The Golden Panthers are obviously struggling on both sides of the ball and even more so in a 72-0 rout at the hands of Louisville, which seemed to be an excessive beatdown in my view, with the Cardinals still throwing in the fourth. I always say the numbers aren't the whole story, but they were here, with Louisville amassing a 412-30 advantage in total yards. Not to much to say except FIU was unable to run or throw and I'll leave it at that because no team deserves this.

Southern Mississippi was a top 25 team a few years back, but the roster was completely wiped clean by graduation and their record clearly tells that story. Like their counterparts, the Golden Eagles have struggled to find the end zone and have had just as difficult a time keeping opponents off the scoreboard. Both trends continued in a 60-7 defeat at Boise State, who obviously was annoyed at losing to Fresno State and took out their frustrations on USM. The Broncos were locked and loaded with 545 yards split between the ground and air, while the Golden Eagles received 80 yards on ten totes from Kendrick Hardy, while Allan Bridgfordthrew for 143 yards with the lone score and a pair of picks.
What world do we live in when an 0-4 team is a two touchdown favorite over another 0-4 squad? I favor Southern Miss, but for the life of me I can't bet them and will feel like an idiot if they failed to cover with money on them...
