The 4-0 and 7th ranked Louisville Cardinals head to Philadelphia for an AAC match-up with the reeling Temple Owls Saturday at noon.
Louisville had a bye week to prepare for this one after demolishing Florida International 72-0 two weeks ago. The Cardinals were once again led by Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater led the way with another flawless showing, throwing for 212 yards and 4 TD's with no picks. Bridgewater connected with DeVante Parker twice in the first half as the Cardinals built a 38-0 lead at the break. The Louisville defense was dominant as well, holding FIU to an eye popping 30 total yards. FIU struggled to get first downs all game long and were only able to muster 3 yards on the ground. The Cardinals defense now ranks 1st in the country at 6.8 points per game for opponents. Bridgewater and the high octane offense ranks 8th with a 48 ppg average. Temple's defense should provide little test for Bridgewater and company this Saturday.

The 2013 struggles for the Temple Owls continued this past weekend as they headed west and watched a late 4th quarter rally fall short as they fell to the Idaho Vandals 26-24. Idaho jumped out to a 17-3 lead in this one as Temple struggled to establish a consistent flow on offense. Connor Reilly put together a strong performance, throwing for 249 yards and a touchdown as Temple finished with 410 yards of total offense. Kenneth Harper chipped in 61 yards and 2 TDs on the ground to lead the Owls run attack. Ryan Alderman caught a TD pass from Reilly late to cut the Temple lead to 6 before an Austin Kehow hit a 25 yard field goal to ice the win for Idaho.
Some trends to consider -- Louisville is 6-1 against the spread in their last 7 games on grass and Temple is 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games overall.
Temple was expected to have a few struggles as they learned a new system this season and broke in a new quarterback, but the Owls has struggled mightily and not improved much week to week. I expect Louisville to blow this one open quickly behind another strong showing from Bridgewater through the air and for the Cardinals to fluster Connor Reilly with aggressive blitzes on their way to a lopsided victory and the cover on the road.
