The Western Michigan Broncos travel to the Glass Bowl to face the Toledo Rockets.
Western Michigan appears to be in a rebuilding mode and a quick glance at their record says as much with the team struggling to find the end zone and keep opponents out. A struggling Kent State seemed to be a good spot for WMU to break in to the win column but the offensed had issues moving the chains with 13 first downs and a pair of interceptions proof of their problems. Brian Fields gave the Broncos a viable ground game with with 106 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries but the offense needed points in a hurry and turned to the air waves. Tyler VanTubbergen was not at his best, going 11-23 for 159 yards with a TD and two picks but the Golden Flashes were too strong offensively with 452 yards and played in front the entire game.

Toledo has aspirations of challenging for the MAC title which took an early season hit following a 31-24 loss to Ball State. The bottom line was the Cardinals seemed to come up with a big play everytime the Rockets did and especially so in the final 15 minutes. The Rockets did move the ball at times with 415 yards with some balance between the run and pass. David Fluellen paced the rushing attack with 129 yards on 27 totes with a touchdown while grabbing four passes for another 15 yards. Terrance Owens completed 34-46 for 274 yards with a TD and pick with Alonzo Russell leading the receiving corps with 147 yards on nine receptions. The problem was the defense could not get a stop when Toledo tied the score twice.
I have to like the way Toledo played against Ball State on the road although Owens will annoy me to no end at times. I think this game is all about potential which points me to the home team...
