The North Texas Mean Green look for a road win at the Tulane Green Wave Saturday.
The Mean Green have transformed from a run first team to a pass heavy squad but neither was much of a factor in a 45-21 loss at Georgia. North Texas was completely outmanned with the Bulldogs amassing 641 total yards, while UNT was held to a mere 245 yards with seven coming on the ground. Even though the visitors are not a strong running team, they needed something on the ground to keep the Georgia offense off the field and take the focus off of quarterback Derek Thompson. Neither happened, with Thompson (21-36/202) held to mostly short throws with a blocked punt and kick return accounting for 14 points.

Tulane came up with a 31-14 victory at Louisiana-Monroe to up their record to 3-2 and keep their Bowl hopes alive. I know it's early in the year to be talking about the postseason, but not for a Green Wave team that needs every win they can scrape together. Tulane can thank their defense and a grind it out rushing attack for this one, along with an injury to Warhawks signal caller Kolton Browning. Nick Montana (7-20/65) didn't do much through the air, but Orleans Darkwa ran for 118 yards and a score with Rob Kelley adding 76 yards as the Green Wave totaled 253 rushing yards and owned TOP with over 36 minutes, while the defense recovered a pair of fumbles and intercepted three passes.
I think both teams have improved so I guess the question is whether North Texas is improved enough to win a tough one on the road and I believe they are...
