The Texas State Bobcats host Sun Belt rival the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in week seven.
For those that follow the Sun Belt and Louisiana-Monroe in particular, it's no secret this isn't the same Warhawks squad we saw in 2012. ULM simply lost too much talent and with Kolton Browning hurt the scenario is even worse. The Browning-less Warhawks fell to 2-4 on the year following a 31-10 loss to visiting Western Kentucky after being out gained 530-391 with most of the damage coming through the air. Jyruss Edwards and Centarius Donald gave Monroe a viable rushing threat with a combined 111 yards but the score dictated the need to go to the air with mixed results. Brayle Brown had problems connecting with receivers, going 21-40 for 275 yards but couldn't find the end zone.

Heading in to their week six match up at Louisiana-Lafayette I thought Texas State wasn't getting enough respect. After they received a 48-24 beating perhaps they were getting too much respect in a game they were not competitive in. This was over at the half with Texas State trailing 28-3 with the boxscore telling the story with UL Lafayette leading the yardage battle 572-196 and losing a pair of fumbles. Tyler Jones was the Bobcats offense with 66 passing yards 58 yards on the ground but the offense was a non factor with zero big plays. The bright spot was Brandon Smith who scored on kick returns of 100 yards and 92 yards but when your special teams leads the scoring there are problems.
Texas State was was simply non existent on both sides of the ball in the loss to Lafayette. I think the Warhawks are on par with the Bobcats in some areas but overall Texas State should bounce back at home with the better team...
