The New Mexico Lobos head to War Memorial Stadium to take the field with the Wyoming Cowboys.
New Mexico has proven to be a capable scoring team although their defense has given up their fair share. Both sides of the ball were outstanding in a 66-17 rout of instate rival New Mexico State to improve to 2-3 in 2013. The Lobos racked up 608 yards and showed why they are the top ranked rushing team in the land with a whopping 541 yards on 56 carries for an eye opening 9.7 yards per touch. Cole Gautsche paced the ground assault with with 127 yards ascore with Kasey Carrier adding 127 yards with three trips to the end zone. Gautsche went 2-4 for 48 yards through the air with a 33 yard scoring strike to Carlos Wiggins in what was probably a surprise to the Aggies more then anything. The defense gave up 451 yards but did recover a fumble and intercept two passes.

Wyoming might have been reading the newspapers and listening to the radio saying how good they were and how they were going to Texas State and winning easily as a double digit favorites. I guess the Bobcatss heard the same thing and didn't like it and proved the majority wrong in an easy 42-21 destruction of the Cowboys. The game was tied 14-14 after 30 minutes but the Pokes were dominated after the half with virtually no running attack which meant riding the right arm of Brett Smith. That isn't a bad idea but Smith couldn't do it himself despite a solid 292 passing yards with a touchdown and interception. The defense gave 452 yards but everytime the Bobcats sniffed the end zone they scored.
Wyoming has had a few weeks to lick their wounds and seethe about their poor effort against Texas State. I the Cowboys can control New Mexico's ground game then their balanced offense will score on the Lobos which I'm counting on...
