The North Texas Mean Green head to Joe Aillet Stadium to take the field with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.
North Texas improved to 3-3 in 2013 with a dominating performance on both sides of the ball in a 34-7 rout of visiting Middle Tennessee State. The Mean Green have a managable schedule and should have their sights set on the postseason but they can ill afford any let downs. This one was over early with UNT taking a 24-7 lead after 30 minutes before turning things over to the defense who held the Blue Raiders to 205 yards while forcing three turnovers and getting on the scoreboard with a pick six. North Texas kept things on the ground with over 300 yards and five yard average with Bandin Byrd leading the way with 139 yards while Reggie Pegram and Antoinne Jimmerson combined for 160 yards. Derek Thompson (13-19/113) was largely quite in the air with a pair of interceptions.

I think at this point of the season we all know this isn't the same Louisiana Tech squad of a year ago who stands at 2-4. The Bulldogs are struggling to find the end zone which has put a major strain on the defense who has generally held their own. The offense went in to the bye week riding a 38-35 victory over Texas El Paso where they pounded the Miners on the ground to the tune of 353 yards and averaged over seven yards per touch. Two fumbles hurt with UTEP recovering one in the end zone but Kenneth Dixon was unstoppable with 200 yards on 25 carries while Blake Martin added 88 yards. Ryan Higgins was quiet but effective through the air, completing 10-19 for 110 yards as La Tech didn't need much from the passing attack.
North Texas really has to have this one which would also be a nice road win although I hate the Mean Green as a road favorite. The bottom line for me is the visitors cover if they play well...
