Aggie Memorial Stadium and the New Mexico State Aggies host the Rice Owls in week eight.
Rice hasn't been winning big but they have been winning and are tied for first in the CUSA West with a 3-0 mark. The Owls knocked off Texas-San Antonio 27-21 as the Owls led 24-7 after three quarters before with standing a late Roadrunners rally. The final numbers said UTSA might have won this game with a 434-340 yardage edge but made plays to score when they had the opportunity which has been their calling card throughout 2013. The running game was a three pronged attack with Charles Ross, Taylor McHargue and Turner Petersen combining for 133 yards on 28 carries. McHargue didn't have a great time through the air, going 9-21 for 183 yards with a 37 yard scoring strike to Dennis Parks. The bend but don't break defense simply kept the Roadrunners at bay until late.

The numbers for New Mexico State tell the story with the offense struggling to move the ball and find the end zone while the defense hasn't been able to keep opponents off the scoreboard. The Aggies are coming in off a bye following a 66-17 defeat at the hands of instate rival New Mexico where they trailed 42-14 at the break and never challenged. The Lobos amassed over 600 yards while New Mexico State totaled 451 yards with some balance but also a lost fumble and a pair of interceptions. Brandon Betancourt paced the ground game with 139 yards on 25 carries while Andrew McDonald completed 20-34 for 269 yards which was a great day if not for two picks. The bottom line is New Mexico State moved the ball but did not score while New Mexico moved the ball and scored.
Rice tends to keep things close and New Mexico State tends to get blown out so may be we see a blow out and a cover? I have zero confidence in the Aggies and won't touch them with somebody elses money...
