The Tennessee Volunteers and the South Carolina Gamecocks face off on Saturday in Knoxville in a SEC college football matchup.
The Tennessee Volunteers had the week of last week and so they should be well rested and well prepared as they begin the second half of their 2013 college football schedule. The Vols are improving but are a work in progress and offensively they are averaging 31.7 points and 375.2 yards per game. Tennessee QB Justin Worley has completed 55.8 percent of his passes with nine touchdown passes and six interceptions. The Volunteers backfield is led by Rajeon Neal who is averaging 5.7 yards per carry with seven touchdowns as well as 14 receptions and Malin Lane is averaging 6.2 yards per carry with four touchdowns. Marquez North has 18 catches and a touchdown, Alton Howard has 15 catches and two touchdowns, and Josh Smith has 10 catches and a touchdown. The Tennessee defense allows 28 points and 416.5 yards with 11 interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and eight sacks. A.J. Johnson leads UT with 47 tackles, Brian Randolph has 44 tackles, and Dontavius Sapp has 33 tackles. Tennessee has played a brutal schedule but they have been unable to pull off the big upset.

The South Carolina Gamecocks hit the half way point of the season at 5-1 and they still have their sights set on the SEC title. The South Carolina offense is averaging 34.5 points and 486.5 points per game and they have turned the ball over 10 times. Gamecocks starting QB Connor Shaw has taken his lumps and his share of hits but he has competed 68.5 percent of his passes for 10 touchdowns and no interceptions and he has rushed for two more touchdowns. Mike Davis is averaging 6.7 yards per carry with nine touchdowns and Brandon Wilds is averaging 4.7 yards per carry with a touchdown as well as a touchdown receiving. Bruce Ellington leads the South Carolina receivers with 21 catches and three touchdowns, Nick Jones has 18 catches and three touchdowns, and Damiere Byrd has 15 catches and two touchdowns. Defensively South Carolina is allowing 22.7 points and 345.5 yards per game with five interceptions, five fumble recoveries, and 14 sacks. Jimmy Legree has 27 tackles, Kaiwan Lewis has 25 tackles, and Kelcy Quarles has 4.0 sacks. South Carolina has some tough matchups ahead on the schedule so they will need to stay focused to not get caught looking ahead.
Tennessee is 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 home games, 4-11-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-9-1 against the spread following a game which they covered the spread. South Carolina is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven SEC games, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, and 18-7-1 against the spread following a win by 20 or more points. South Carolina is 2-5 against the spread in the last seven meetings of these two.
