Georgia State easily played their best game of the 2013 campaign even though it was a 35-28 loss to conference rival Troy. This game was supposed to be no contest yet it was tied 28-28 until the Trojans scored with around three minutes left to win it. Troy did amass over 600 yards of offenses so the struggling Panthers defense continued to have issues but the challenged offense had a productive day with 422 yards. Unfortunately the rushing attack wasn't part of that success with only 52 yards on 26 carries but the passing of Ronnie Bell came up with some big plays. Bell was only 22-50 but he amassed 370 yards with four touchdowns and a pick with Albert Wilson snaring seven balls for 153 yards and a pair of scores.

I have to admit that Texas State is a mystery to me. This was the same team that destroyed Wyoming and then were destoyed by Louisiana-Lafayette the following week before falling to Louisiana-Monroe 21-14 as a seven point favorite at home. This is starting to look like a team that turns it on and off and the trick for us is figuring out which. I can't blame the defense for this one with only 192 yards allowed which is simply hard to accomplish againsy anybody. However, the offense totaled 379 yards and coldn't score? Robert Lowe paced a solid ground game with 141 yards on 22 carries and scored the Bobcats lone touchdown. The problems arose when Texas State went to the air where Tyler Jones (6-15/66) threw 71 and 75 yard pick six's to hand the Warhawks a 14-0 lead. Tyler Arndt (6-19/81) wasn't much better but at least he didn't throw the ball to ULM.
Georgia State looked good against Troy but Troy falls all over themselves with their porous defense. I'm still not sold on Texas State but if they don't win big here we can write them off...
