The Florida International Golden Panthers host the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in CUSA action.
The Louisiana Tech that consistently lit up of the scoreboard in 2012 is no more as points have been painfully difficult to come by which has strained their defense and is reflected in their record. The offense stalled once again in a 28-13 loss to visiting North Texas which dropped the Bulldogs to 2-5. La Tech won the yardage battle 404-386 but were one dimensional with zero ability to run while losing a fumble and throwing a pair of interceptions. La Tech mustered only 37 rushing yards and were forced to rely on the passing of Ryan Higgins who completed 36-54 for 343 yards with two interceptions including a 56 yard pick six that changed the complexion of the game.

Florida International was unable to build on their first win of 2013 as they fell to Alabama-Birmingham 27-24 to fall to 1-1 in the CUSA and 1-5 overall as the offense and defense have both struggled. The Golden Panthers had their opportunities versus the Blazers as they rallied from a 21-7 hole to tie it 24-24 before UAB nailed a field goal with ten ticks left for the final margin. Both teams finished with around 400 yards but FIU couldn't run the ball with 94 yards on 36 carries which forced them to the airmore then they wanted. Jake Medlock threw for some nice yardage but struggled to connect with his receiving corps, completing 17-34 for 305 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception. The Blazers drove the field with roughly 2 1/2 minutes left to win it to ruin an other wise solid defensive performance.
This is a tough one and not for the feint of heart with both teams combining fo a 4-9 record. I don't think I will touch this because whatever happens won't surprise me...
