Malone Stadium will be rocking when their Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks entertain the Georgia State Panthers.

Georgia State has been making the transition to big time football and immediately were dubbed one of the worse teams in the game. I don't know if that's entirely true but it's fair to say the Panthers are lacking in the scoring department and need help on the defensive side of the football as well. GSU did give Texas State all they could handle in a 24-17 defeat Saturday although they scored in the waning seconds to make the score more respectable. Georgia State actually out gained the Bobcats 368-343 but could not slow the run where the home team racked up nearly 300 yards. GSU totaled 160 rushing yards with Travis Evans gaining 71 on 18 carries while Albert Wilson added 44 yards on just two totes. Ronnie Bell enjoyed some success in the air (20-36/208) with Wilson catching seven balls for 93 yards but the team couldn't stretch the field.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Spor

This isn't the Louisiana-Monroe squad from 2012 but at 1-1 in the Sun Belt the conference crown is still within grasp. ULM improved to 3-4 with a 21-14 road win at Texas State which at least gave their season some new hope for another week. The Warhawks are struggling to put the ball in the end zone at 17 points and did so here with the defense carrying the load. This unit held the Bobcats to just 358 yards and recorded a pair of pick sixes of 71 and 74 yards for a 14-0 lead. The Louisiana-Monroe attack produced 192 yards and 13 first downs with their winning score coming on a Centarius Donald ten yard run with 18 ticks remaining on the clock. The Warhawks mustered 80 rushing yards and received 112 yards from Brayle Brown who completed 16-32 with the two crucial interceptions.

The Panthers are obviously not a good team but they a cover machine at 5-1-1 ATS perhaps due to inflated lines. Having said I will take the points and hope for another cover...
