The South Alabama Jaguars travel to Bobcat Stadium where the Texas State Bobcats await.
From what I have seen from South Alabama in 2013 I would say they are an improved squad and should probably be at least 4-2 if not for their last minute meltdown in a loss to Troy. The pass happy Jaguars did a little bit of everything in a 38-21 victory over Kent State minus a few big scoring plays by the Golden Flashes. USA led in the yardage department 481-428 but two of Kent State's plays covered 147 yards. The Jaguars were very effective on the ground with 257 yards with Jay Jones leading with 99 yards on 13 totes and a touchdown while Cris Dinham and Kendall Houston combining for 110 yards on 19 tries with the latter scoring twice. Ross Metheny was an efficient 16-23 for 224 yards and a TD as most every thing fell in to place for USA.

I was very impressed by Texas State when they handled Wyoming rather easily a few weeks back but the past three times out were not very good looking. The Bobcats squeezed by Georgia State 24-17 as a 16 point home favorite which has me thinking I really don't know this team. Neither team dazzled on the offensive side of the football with the Panthers holding a slight edge in yardage 368-348. The Bobcats did their damage with a punishing ground attack that piled up over 300 yards and averaged over seven yards per touch with Robert Lowe doing the heavy lifting with 177 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown. Chris Nutall added 90 yards on just nine totes with a pair of scores while Tyler Jones threw sparingly for 47 yards.
This might be splitting hairs here with both teams producing similar numbers but I think South Alabama has done it against a bit stronger competition...
