The USC Trojans and the Utah Utes face off on Saturday in a college football battle of 4-3 Pac-12 teams.
The USC Trojans are having an up and down year which for their program simply isn’t good enough and is far below the expectations. QB Cody Kessler has completed 60.1 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and five interceptions and he has rushed for a touchdown. The Utah Utes looked like they were ready to follow up on their win over Stanford with a come from behind win at Arizona but it wasn’t meant to be as they took the loss. The Utah offense is averaging 35.1 points per game and 449.3 yards and they have turned the ball over 13 times. QB Travis Wilson has a hand injury and he remains questionable for this one and if he isn’t ready to go it will be Adam Schulz who has seen action already this year. The Utah rushing attack is led by Bubba Poole who is averaging 4.9 yards per carry and he also has 26 receptions and Lucky Radley averages 7.3 yards per carry with a combined three touchdowns rushing and receiving. Dres Anderson has 31 catches and five touchdowns to lead the Utes in receiving and Sean Fitzgerald has 23 catches. The Utah defense allows 26.7 points and 412.4 yards per game with two interceptions, eight fumble recoveries, and 22 sacks. Trevor Reilly has 58 tackles and 3.5 sacks, Jared Norris has 56 tackles, and Eric Rowe has 46 tackles. Utah has played a tough schedule so they should be well prepared for what they will see on the field in this one.
USC Is 3-9 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven Pac-12 games, and 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games. Utah is 903 against the spread following a loss, 2-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games.
This is a lot of points for a game like this and while taking Utah on the road has bitten me before I am going to take them getting a touchdown here.
