The Troy Trojans visit the L.T. Smith Stadium to take the field with the rival Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
Troy is right in the mix for a postseason berth but that means they will have to keep on wnning and get some more stops from the defensive side of the football which seems to be an issue in recent years. The Trojans handed Georgia State a 35-28 defeat heading in to a week eight bye and are probably working on their defense which gave up 422 yards to an offensively challenged Panthers club. The offense had some issues as well with plenty of yardage with 634 but also turning the ball over three times. Brandon Burks and Jordan Chunn gave the Trojans plenty of punch on the ground with a combined 204 yards on 45 totes with the latter scoring twice. Corey Robinson completed 21-37 for 350 yards with a trio of TD's and a pair of picks with Chris Williams and Eric Thomas hauling in ten throws for 265 yards.

Western Kentucky possesses an offense that can both run and throw that combines with a defense that doesn't allow a ton of yards yet I can't hep but think the Hilltoppers are better then their 4-3 record indicates. A quick look at their 37-20 defeat to visiting Louisiana-Lafayette tells us why with WKU giving the ball away four times with two lost fumbles and a pair of picks. The Hilltoppers mistakes negated a 471-344 edge in yardage that saw Antonio Edwards pacing a solid rushing attack with 154 yards on 28 carries with a trip to the end zone. Brandon Doughty (18-23/260) threw for some nice gains with a touchdown but continued to make mistakes with two more interceptions including a 99 yard pick six to give him 12 picks on the year.
If Doughty can limit mistakes then I see no way Troy wins this game and they will be hard pressed to stay close. I'll give the Trojans a shot but I don't like their defense and the Hilltoppers mistakes worry me in what might be a guess so I will keep an eye on this...
