The Pittsburgh Panthers head down to Georgia Tech to play the Yellow Jackets on Saturday.
The Panthers dropped to 4-3 overall, 2-2 ACC, after losing to Navy on the road 24-21 last weekend. The Panthers started off 3-1 on the year, but have dropped 2 of their last 3 games since then. The Panthers produced 338 total yards against Navy and turned the ball over once. QB Tom Savage completed 20 of 27 passes for 203 yards with 2 touchdowns. WR Devin Street caught nine passes for 96 yards with a touchdown and became the school’s all-time leading receiver. RB Isaac Bennett rushed for 77 yards on 22 carries for Pittsburgh. Savage has passed for 1,546 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. Bennett leads the team in rushing with 527 yards and 5 touchdowns. Street has a team-high 35 catches for 645 yards and 4 touchdowns for the Panthers this season. Pittsburgh ranks 72nd in points scored this season, averaging over 28 points per contest. Pittsburgh allowed 325 yards to Navy and forced one turnover in the loss. The Panthers rank 69th in points allowed, giving up just less than 28 points per game.

Georgia Tech improved to 5-3 overall, 4-2 ACC, after beating Virginia on the road 35-25 last weekend. The Yellow Jackets started off the year 3-0, lost 3 straight, and now have won 2 in a row heading into this week’s game. Against Virginia, The Yellow Jackets produced 507 total yards, with 394 coming on the ground via the triple-option attack. RB Zach Laskey and David Sims each ran for two touchdowns and Georgia Tech overcame five turnovers to hold off Virginia on the road. QB Vad Lee was a non-factor with 75 yards passing and one interception. Lee has thrown for 921 yards and 8 touchdowns this season for the Yellow Jackets. Sims has rushed for a team-high 516 yards and 8 touchdowns this season. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 35.9 points per game this season, which puts them at 35th in the nation. The Yellow Jackets defense allowed 444 yards against Virginia, with 376 coming thru the air. Virginia dominated time of possession due to the miscues by Georgia Tech on offense, but the defense was able to hold the Cavaliers to mostly field goals. Georgia Tech is allowing 19.9 points per contest, which ranks 21st in the country this season.
Pittsburgh is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games. The over is 4-0 in Georgia Tech’s last 4 games overall.
Pittsburgh has not had great success on the road this year, while Georgia Tech has played well at home except for one loss against Virginia Tech. The Panthers are an average team against the run, but they did get a taste of the triple-option against Navy last week. However, Georgia Tech has better athletes than Navy and Pittsburgh will have to play well to stop their rushing game on Saturday. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh will find it tough to score against the Yellow Jackets at home, who haven’t allowed more than 20 points to an opponent at home this season. I’ll take Georgia Tech to win by two touchdowns.
