The Northern Illinois Huskies look to stay perfect when they visit the Massachusetts Minutemen.
Northern Illinois has not always played up to expectations each time out but they did in week nine where they pounded Eastern Michigan by a 59-20 count. The Huskies eliminated any upset hopes the Eagles had when they marched in to the locker room holding a 38-3 lead. NIU amassed 658 yards with the ability to both run or throw as they preferred. The quick strike Huskies had the ball for a little over 23 minutes with 44 rushes resulting in 327 yards and nearly 7 1/2 yards per carry. Jordan Lynch was right at the top of the list with 99 yards on 18 carries and a 30 yard TD run but he did most of his damage through the air with a 16-20 effort for 223 yards and four touchdowns with Tommylee Lewis grabbing eight balls for 107 yards.

Massachusetts hasn't enjoyed a great deal of success the last few years as they transition to major college football but they missed out on a golden opportunity to pick up win number two in a 31-30 loss to Western Michigan. A two point conversion came up short with 22 ticks left and the Broncos escaped with the win instead. UMass mustered 332 yards with a game opening 90 yard kick return from Khary Bailey that led to a 21-17 lead at the break. The Minutemen managed just 112 yards on 42 totes for just over 2 1/2 yards per carry in a struggling ground attack. That left the task of moving the chains to AJ Doyle and the passing attack and he almost pulled it off with 15-24 performance for 197 yards but the defense couldn't stop the passing of Zach Terrell who threw for 275 yards and four TD's.
I think the big worry here is whether Northern Illinois will keep going full throttle the entire 60 minutes or get a lead and coast. I believe this one is Huskies or walk away...
